|Recurring Event (See all)
Every month on the second Sunday until December 10, 2017

Join Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve docent, writer and artist, Donna Walker, for a free interpretive nature walk. Enhance your appreciation of this watershed community of native plants and wildlife. Learn about the history and culture of the indigenous people who lived in this area during prehistoric times.

A native San Diegan, Donna studied history and art at Palomar College, in San Marcos, CA where she earned her degree and a certificate in American Indian Studies. Donna also has a certificate in Conservation, Forestry, and Wildlife. She volunteers as a trail guide for Mission Trails Regional Park where she leads interpretive nature walks on a monthly basis. Donna also volunteers in collections at the San Diego Archaeology Center and is a contract illustrator for the Center. In 2012, Donna joined the docent group for the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve and leads Sunday morning nature walks from the Elfin Forest Interpretive Center Honoring Susan J. Varty. Her love of history, archaeology and art has enabled her to combine the three in an expression of historical and contemporary drawings with special emphasis in artifact illustration. She currently works at Hearts Pest Management where she writes educational material for blog entries on the company’s website.
