Better World Day

Conway Elementary celebrated Better World Day with pizzazz!  Just for context, these students participated in our Adaptations program in 3rd grade last year, and then as 4th graders they participated in our Watersheds program and the Trout in the Classroom program we sponsor with funding from SDG&E.  They also visited San Elijo Lagoon

Inspired by these experiences, on May 4th, they put together an exhibition event for Better World Day to demonstrate what they learned.  The students were positioned around various stations, each with a specific topic, where they would answer questions as the parents and other guests made the rounds.  Then there was a staged event. Afterwards, they rolled up their sleeves and led a community cleanup at Kit Carson Park to help protect the watershed. The whole event was incredibly rewarding to witness, and stands as a powerful testament that environmental education truly does foster conservation stewardship!
