Medicinal Plants
Join The Escondido Creek Conservancy’s bi-monthly speaker series as we identify and explore medicinal plants of the northern Payomkawichum (aka Luiseno) and Kumeyaay homelands. This month’s speaker, Ami Admire, is Payómkawichum from the Rincon Indian Reservation and coordinator of Indian Health Council’s mental health improvement grant, Native Connections. Nights and weekends, Ami directs a travelling storytelling program, the Rincon Youth Storytellers. She is a 2019 recipient of the National Indian Health Board’s Local Impact Award. With 20 years experience, medicinal plants and local customs are the heart of Ami’s programming; providing plant and language curriculum for in and out-of-school programs, colleges, and conferences within San Diego and Riverside counties.
