About the Preserve:

The LeoMar Preserve serves as an important corridor habitat for traveling wildlife such as southern mule deer. The Conservancy is dedicated to protecting habitat and wildlife for future generations to enjoy by providing safe havens needed for their long term survival. It is the Conservancy’s newest wildlife sanctuary is called LeoMar Preserve to honor Leonard Wittwer and Martha Blane, two Conservancy founders instrumental in the success of the now 30-year old land trust.

LeoMar Preserve

Project Description:

  • We will be decommissioning a redundant trail to restore sensitive coastal California gnatcatcher habitat at our LeoMar Preserve. Redundant trails run through the area and fragment core habitat. The Conservancy is helping the area restore itself through promoting natural revegetation in hopes to expand foraging and nesting area for the coastal California gnatcatcher and other local wildlife species.
  • Conservancy land managers will be onsite to lead smaller groups in projects helping us take care of this special nature preserve, home to many precious coastal sage scrub species.
