The Escondido Creek Conservancy strives to provide outdoor opportunities for you and your entire family. Keep checking back for updated lists of our guided hikes, educational seminars, and much more! Follow us on Eventbrite for updates on events that require pre-event registration.
Once a month our enthusiastic volunteers gather to put on their work gloves and help remove invasive species, fix trails, and make room for native plants and animals to flourish in the Escondido Creek watershed. At Shrub Club, you’ll roll up your sleeves and heal the Earth. Registration is required. Details for each month will be posted on the Shrub Club page.
Upcoming Shrub Clubs:
Heads Up! Shrub Club is taking a break for summer 2023 and will resume in fall 2023. Stay in the loop about upcoming events by following the Conservancy on Eventbrite.
Once each quarter, the Conservancy in partnership with Olivenhain Municipal Water District hosts an educational community event. These conversations take place at the Elfin Forest Interpretive Center and cover topics relevant to local wildlife, habitats, and conservation efforts.
Join us for a lively and engaging Conservation Conversation! Paul Curtis, Fish Biologist, will be presenting on Steelhead Trout and the Water Quality of Escondido Creek Thursday, October 19 at 6:00 PM. With over 40 years of experience studying trout and water quality testing techniques, Paul will be taking us on a journey of how the Escondido Creek could play a role in this species’ survival.
Join us for an easy introductory hike on a Conservancy preserve! Meet Conservancy staff, board members, and volunteers while learning about current Conservancy projects. These hikes will rotate around the watershed, so if you join us every month, by the end of the 2023 you will be so bursting with knowledge that you could lead the walks in 2024! The hikes are free but space is limited. Be sure to register on Eventbrite!
Upcoming Welcome to the Watershed Hike:
Join us for a hike up Bottle Peak!
Bottle Peak was protected forever by a partnership of The Escondido Creek Conservancy and San Diego County Parks and Recreation, who split ownership. The Conservancy owns the top and we’d like to take you there.
Parking is limited, we’ll meet as a group to form carpools and travel together to the site. The hike is mostly uphill and approximately 4 miles round trip. This is an athletic walk with rock scrambling at the very end to the top. We will split the group for those who’d prefer not to scramble and would rather contemplate the flowers at the base of the boulders while the others climb. In both cases, please wear good hiking boots, a hat and sunscreen and bring water. You’ll meet Conservancy board members and learn about Conservancy activities. Bottle Peak is a wonderful location to see the Escondido Creek watershed!
