Plaza Del Arroyo Pocket Park Refreshed!

by Aida Rodriguez.

On Saturday October 16th, The Escondido Creek Conservancy hosted a refresh of the Plaza del Arroyo Pocket park located near Evan’s Tires, across the street from Grape Day Park. The volunteers were students from the Mission Hills High School Environmental Club, a newly founded club that The Conservancy oversees and mentors, as well as Escondido Charter School Environmental Club.

Together the garden was cleared of litter, new native pollinator plants were added, and fences were fixed. Some of the plants added into the garden were raised at The Escondido Creek Conservancy’s very own nursery located  at the Mountain Meadow Preserve in Hidden Meadows, which is also the future location of their office. The park was installed in 2014 and seven years later this pollinator garden represents a vision for Escondido creek to become more natural and welcoming to people and wildlife.
